    Recaro ergomed ds electrical connection

    Dear forum members,

I turn to you for advice on what is the best way to connect my ergomed ds seats to my 80 cabrio? The car has original seat heating. Recaros are fully electric with heating and climate package. There are coming only 2 wires: +12V and ground (red and brown).

Can i connect power to the wires of original seat heating? Or this is a bad idea?

If i have to bring power supply from under the bonnet, how exactly should i do it? Fuse box? Directly from the battery? I assume seats need to get power only when ignition is on. Do i need a relay? Can i use existing relay? Fuses? Please advice cant wait to install these bad boys
    Pictures will follow of course

Thanks and have a great weekend!

I'm not an electronics guru but taking it of the original wiring would mean you need to have the seat heating on at all time to power the seats.
Take a ground from ground point somewhere under the dash and a fused 12V from the fuse box.

Do you know hoe big fuse i should install? I read somewhere 20A per each seat. Is that enough? Also at the fuse box, how to i connect there +12? From the top i cant, so i should go somehow from the bottom? Do i need a power relay? Thanks for input

Yeah have a look at the bottom of the fuse box there should be a point to take 12V from.
Don't think you'll need a relay between it, I'm sure someone with more electronic knowledge will chime in

Is a part of longer connector under the dash. You can see it in the middle of the picture I take it controls the heated seats.

Ok. Would be nice to see how it connects to the fusebox so i could do exactly the same. Thanks for input, much appreciated.

well its not a simple job. you need to take carpet out and connect it from the footwell of the car. dont know how tidy you want to put the loom.

I am not worried about the loom it self, i am worried how i will connect the +12V to the fuse box. I hope i can take out the fuse box from engine side, layout the cable and do the actual connection to the fusebox from engine side.
