I think i deleted my vcds cable chip-help

    Hello guys,

I am an idiot lately. So i bought vcds soft 15.7 and cable plus a 2x2 adapter for my audi 80 cabrio 1,9tdi.

Hooked everything up and after the test the log was saying not connected to the car. Light was green on the cable. All fuses ok.
On the cd there was a soft called Mprog from ftdi. I opened it and started to poke around without knowing what am i doing. I think i deleted the code on the chip of the cable. Is that possible? What i need to do now if the seller will not agree to take this one back and provide me with another one? This had to be a simple procedure which turned into a nightmare. Now when i try to run the test it says interface is no recognized, the driver for cable does not work and ross-tech cable is under unknown devices... can someone please advise? Pictures are attached of what is shown on the screen:

Did you buy it direct from ross tech?

No, but I did this. Initially it was ok, just when everything was plugged in it was saying not plugged into car. Yesterday I was sitting till 6 am trying to fix my **** up and actually fixed it. In vcds install folder there was a txt file with programming options:
Ross-Tech HEX or KEY USB Interface
      Ross-Tech Direct USB Interface
      Ross-Tech Micro-CAN Interface
      Ross-Tech USB Converter

I am using a 2x2 adapter on this cable and the car is audi 80 cabriolet 1.9tdi from 1997-10. Today after installing XP windows on an old laptop (pain in the ***) I installed vcds on it and programmed the cable via Mprog to Ross-Tech USB Converter option. Again the same issue, not plugged into car. Which option I should use for my car from the 4 above?

Or what is the issue here?

Your final image looks like it is operating correctly.

Why does it say not plugged into car? When i click ok nothing happens. All modules are disabled. Its a first time connection. I am desperate here.

thats not a genuine ross-tech cable, so dont expect the ross-tech software to work.

The only problem is that the cable is connected to the car. I tried it on win10 then on win xp, run as admin. All kind of things! Different usb ports, i do not know what else to do. Please help. This had to be a simple job that turned into nightmare!

Try it to different car then. Maybe fault is in your "constructor".

I think he means your car is a constructor
Check if there's power at 2x2 connector in the car? Seems like the cable is working correctly

Aaa, hehe. The power is there because the light comes on the cable. Maybe there is no signal? How can i check the signal? I need to set multimeter to ohm's?

I think on all the older 2x2 k-line version cars you can check any fault codes with blinker light - http://www.sjmautotechnik.com/troubl...f_MC2.html#led
Easiest way to test the vcds cable would be on a different car of course.
