You Know wot, this happen to me while I was heading to a Premier inn up Hockley heath area in December. I thought it began after driving very slowly through large puddle in the road then it became sometime-ish. It hasn't happened for a while, but did it today.

Ive had this, but only ever in hot weather - which I think is down to a thermal fuse. When the car interior cooled a bit the windows would work again.

Im guessing this would be the problem for you, as its been fairly cold in the UK recently.

Could it be a sticky relay on your car?
