  • Performance Chip soldering - help

A long shot a its not an S2 ECU I'm asking about but its my current daily driver 1.8T A4 B5 TQS Avant:

Anyone know someone around or close to West Yorkshire that can de-solder and then solder in a 44 pin chip into a B5 Audi A4 1.8 T ecu.

I bought a chip and carrier to give it a bit more umph but can;t find anyone local capable of doing the chip change, I want the carrier in so I can swap back to the original chip if necessary.

I can remove the ECU and board but don;t feel capable of tackling the removal/install of the chip myself.

Its a square chip with 11 connections per side, the original chip legs are accessable to allow removal but everyone I've spoken to is not prepared to touch it as they say the carrier needs a special tool to allow them to install it.

    Anyone ?

You should be able to take it to an auto electrician and get them to do it for you, or if there is a local electronics firm as it's just a case of having decent soldering skills and the right kit
