  • S4 ECU question

anyone know whether the Ecu in an auto S4 is the same as a manual, i know they have a slightly different part number but do they boost differently etc?

    Same except for chips.

Must admit I've never tried retrofitting manual chips into an automatic AAN ECU, but I think it should be absolutely fine. Only possibility of issues is if there is any microcode stored on uC ROM that is specific to the automatic transmission... I'll help out FOC if you need sockets fitted for a test on this ECU swap if you like - I'm guessing you've sourced one as a possible 'project' ECU.

The same, however you need to change eeproms form manual trans.

Which way you need to swap ? From Auto to Manual - you can drive witch Auto ecu in Manual car with some side effects. If you put Manual ecu in Auto car, it may not work, because ecu is interacting with gearbox, and also keeping different idle rpms for that.

If you will change chips, then it will be no problem. I've done that without any problems.

                  Works a treat.
This was my friends AAN in 90q project and he could only source an automatic ECU affordably. Manual chips and no problems what so ever.
