Extreme HID is good to go! :-)

The latest extreme HID kit is ready to be made now. I have been using them for the last six months to make sure nothing needed changing or modifying, I can now sign them off as good to go!

Here's the original post with the comparison photo's: http://www.s2forum.com/forum/showthr...1&page=1&pp=15

Now there's a couple of things with these:

The autocheck warning WILL 100% for sure be tripped as soon as you turn these on! so you need to do the K pin 'mod' to stop the buzzer driving you mad! see this post: http://www.s2forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2947

Price will depend upon how many I can commission to be made, I already have some pre-orders so I am HOPING to get the price down to £245+vat, delivery via Courier @ £8+vat to a UK mainland address for the S2 forum members that wanted a kit.

These are H1 kits so Ellipsoids only.

These are Low beam only (n.b high beam is almost obsolete with this kit!)

    The bulbs are 6000K rating

Do they work? oh yeah!! I have only met one car that had 'better' headlamps than my S2 headlamps in the last 6 months!

Bi xenon is just not gonna happen, the cost is gonna be way out there in the upper atmosphere, like in the region of 700-800 GBP for materials, then the work to assemble them. I have now canned the idea, its not viable at over a grand a set, forget it...

If anyone would 100% like a kit, then please drop me an e-mail to say you would please: martyn@vagparts.com I'll wait for a couple of weeks and then get the production of the kits started. Approx 3 week lead time on them.

Short video clip of them here 1 meg avi watch for the car coming down the hill at the end for a neat comparison to halogen!

Martyn, are these kits totally different from the HID kits already fitted to peoples cars?
I assume from the above that you need to get the entire kit and cant get the bits that are different, unless its totally different of course

@GreenM3 - you can get an HID kit for the H4 bulb set in the normal 3B headlamps, which is what I have and is a huge improvement over the 1candlepower lamps we have by default. VAGParts do them. But it's a good question- what's required to turn a 3B in to this system?

wow... replies :-) ok, here goes:

Raf, ;-) great minds think alike huh?!!

Green M3 - Dan is spot on with the H4 kit that you can fit now into yours, we do have H4 kits for your Coupe.

To go Ellipsoid, well using brand new parts I reckon about £450 with bulbs and all, then you need to change the

wiring (that's been covered on here before - a search in electrical sound find it) then the cost of the H1 HID

kit. If you could get a pair of used Ellipsoids that would drop the cost a fair bit.

Jamo - no worries mate! I'll be tagging on one for you if you would like it when you can, one will have your

                    name on it.

Steve, cheers mate! the dark side beckons.......well, it'll be a whole heap brighter after you fit these ;-)

Ant - hey, c'mon bud, think I would NOT make these modular so the existing kits can be upgraded? the only

thing common to both kits is the black and white wires with the blue plug on the end! everything else is

different! BUT, you can upgrade yes. I'll be working on upgrade costs in a short while, but fear ye not, you

                    can have these!

Vadim - everything mate!! In the end I ran the testing on mine for 6 months as I wanted to make sure all was ok

                    on my car first!!

Paul - yes sir, that was an important consideration for the new kit, they must be compatible as an upgrade!

anything else just wouldn't be cricket! I'll confirm upgrade costs soon.

Due to the very high output of these kits, they will ultimately be supplied through us as 'OF ROAD USE ONLY'

for clubman racing and motorsport only as they are very high output. The S2 projector is SO inefficient at

transmitting quality light output I reckon they lose about 40-50% of the lumens through the projector, hence we

can use this kit on S2 road cars.

I always leave mine on headlamp dipped position number 2 now to prevent lighting up the car in front on

motorways, then when you need greater range turn the dip off back to zero. High beam is still usuable as low can never point up that high!

Fitting is exactly the same as per the instructions on out site http://www.vagparts.com/pages/H1_install.htm
