Could be the wiring loom where it runs into the boot hatch. Pull the rubber boot back, may be broken wires in there m8. -
It probably something like that, everything else works so i assume its not a fuse. ill check this afternoon.

Switch inside the stalk can also go pants up, maybe a squirt or two with switch cleaner?2001 Avus Silver B5 RS4.
