He probably has one at the garage but i am 150 miles from there most of the time. Only see smoke out the back when on throttle. The rest of the time it seems ok but it has used alot in the last day.

Going to see if I can get it booked in to have a compression test done later since I dont own one myself.

I can see this one getting expensive. If I can will get hold of a 7A exhaust cam to fit at the same time with RS2 intake cam.

If its ON boost then most likely rings.
VSOS leaks tend to show up more on overrun as the oil is sucked down thru the VG.

You can get a decent compression tester from Halfrauds (or similar) for £20. Quicker, cheaper and less hassle than booking it in somewhere (IMO).

Forget the borescope if these prices are the norm !

I was hoping it wasnt the rings :S will wait and see. All I know for sure is its gonna be expensive! I have the car booked in on wednesday for a bit of a check over with a mechanic ive used before that my dad sold his mobile business to about 20 years ago. Gonna get a compression test done and a bit of a check over there. Only problem I have is that I need a car to do discos with the next few weeks too which is a PITA. If it is the rings it seems a good time to get some decent rods if I can stretch to that

Ive done some more investigation this afternoon now im back from work. The exhaust was covered in oil as was the undertray which it wasnt a few days ago. After taking that off I can see that the oil pressure sending is pissing oil out all over the undertray.

Ive got two sensors on order from ECP which should be here tomorrow for me to fit. But its a right PITA to do it!!! gonna start taking it apart once the engine has cooled down a bit. Fingers crossed its not going to cost loads to fix

from investigation today it looks like the oil pressure senders have started leaking oil, and alot of it now especially onto the exhaust!

you might have good compression but it doesnt say your piston oil rings arent worn

Maybe you are going to be lucky then... Under boost, with the increased oil pressure I guess you must be spewing more oil out... which blows rearward and onto the exhaust - causing zee smoke.

Should be cheaper and less hassle than rings alright.

Ive got the car booked in for a bit of a health check once I have re fitted theses to check piston rings etc too.

Replaced the top sensor so far. The bottom one I need another washer for since the sensor fits into an adapter which goes into the block. Hence the extra washer. The saga continues. LOL
