    Supercharged 10v..been done ? any info ?

Well, I fancy having a go
I have an Eaton M45 Charger and intercooler which should be OK on a 10v

I am looking to improve the low down torque rather than top end rush, and I want to plumb it in to the standard injection system between the metering unit and the throttlebody. Its my Daily driver so it has to be useable and reliable

Any one seen it done on a 5-pot ? got any links ? or any pointers, advice etc ?
    All sugestions gratefully recieved

    Cheers
    Dom

Eaton 45 is a bit small for a 2.2l engine (I assume yours is a 2,226 or 2,309cc). The Eaton M45 is rated for 1.0L to 2.0L engines. You'll need an Eaton M62, which is rated for 2.0L to 4.0L engines. I haven't seen this conversion carried out on an IL5, but it is very feasible. You'll need to increase the fuel pressure, and I would advise the fuel metering unit from a Mercedes 420 SL. It is a V8, but K-Jetronic is non sequential, so you can blank off any 3 of the injector ports, using the remaining 5 that give the neatest routing for your stock braided lines.

Alternatively, you can use a metering unit from the Audi 200 turbo - Metering head from a WJ 200 turbo if your engine code is KV, or 1B / 2B if your engine code is NG. Try to get the injectors from whichever car you rape for components.

there was some where in the net a persone who were super charging 10 valves engines , but i think he used parts or even engine swap from 200 turbo 10 valves , ill try to search then net again my i found this link , its in the united state.

last time i saw some one here in lebanon swaping the 20 v none turbo with a 10 v turbo from audi 200, i wondered isnt the 10v turbo 165 horse power? and the 20v 170? or maybe he was planing for some tuning up?

                  Thanks for the replies

I have had the system apart and it looks like the charger will fit where the current Pas pump is.
It is an Eaton M45, which according to the Eaton site is good for 2-3litre engines.
It will be running at the top of its performance envelope wheras an M62 would have spare capacity, but the Calcs work out OK.
I am not looking at running Huge boost to get huge HP numbers, Its a 10v so it runs out of Puff pretty quickly any way.
What I am looking for is an Increase in Torque Right off Idle, which the 45 should give me, and it will run out of power at the top end.

The Plumbing looks ok as well, If I sort the Breather system out with a catch tank there is enough room to get everything in.
The Intercooler will be positioned in front of the standard radiator, it has the auxillary rad fitted as well, and the Lamp pod on the Bonnet means it runs cooler than standard anyway.

Now I just need to sort the FEAD Layout, to run the charger and the fueling.
the plan is to move everything first and make sure it all runs ok (It is my DAily Driver after all ) then fit the charger

I`ll post some pics as it progresses

                  Keep the suggestions coming
                  Cheers

Does this help to overcome the 5cyl /Eaton drive issues?

                      IIRC a 45 is a mini charger. no good. min needed is a 62 from a slk230

Hi Gazza, According to the Eatoncorp.com webstsite The Eaton Supercharger Model 45 is designed for 2.0L to 3.0L passenger car and light truck engines, but may also be suitable for other engine sizes, depending on total system performance requirements.

just using experience from the G60 world. 45s were not even good for 200hp. 62's bout 260. not the best charger for power but good for a road car driven daily. the clutch pully setup is a pain though. a gated eaton is good for a twin charge setup.

G60 engines are 1781cc 8v's so not too good at flowing air. theres not too much between a honda 1600 vtec and a 2.3 5 pot 10v on flow. and you wouldn't expect that. in fact the honda probly flows more cfm. counter flows are poor

worth a check to see if i got my 45's and 62's correct. try the G60 forum on vortex for info on eaton and twin screw.
