Smoking as well.....

My car has started smoking now

DOesnt do it straight away, if left to ide for a while, it seems to warm up to the point that it smokes.... have only noticed of an evening so far, so cant see the colour of the smoke, I think its blue but hard to tell, hoping its not white tho thats for sure!!!

Doesnt smoke whilst on the move, or gear shift etc or anything that has been noticed.

Car has done 161k now so its doing well, im gonna check it out once its light and warmed up fully.

Im guessing its the turbo, it was de-cat a few months ago now, so thats probably aided its death..... along with my frequent rapid driving!

Oh well, more on the shopping list, if its turbo, then RS2 spec will be coming sooner than planned LOL, timing belt needs doing so will prob take it off the road a short time, get the bits together, replace headgasket and check all in there and do the EM and turbo etc whilst its off.... think my CC is gonna get a bit of a pounding now!

cause you have de-cat'd it you have dropped the back pressure possibly resulting in a little more strain on the seal - so oil is weeping into the intake side of the turbo (well thats what mine did when i had my 3" system done) so top and bottom of it your probably looking at new seals for your turbo which IIRC are bout £260 - £300 job done, if you send them your turbo.

on the other hand-

may be an ideal time to upgrade

Spending money on recovering the current turbo would be money wasted....
If it is the turbo then its good enough reason to move up a step, for now tho it runs fine, i got no smoke on start up this morning, couldnt see anything whilst driving and nothing when i got to work, altho it wasnt fully warmed up, will check it later on once fully warm and check the colour, im pretty sure it was blue tho

Thats the same thing i was thinking about the de-cat and the seals etc.

Yep, sounds like the blower is a likely source of the blue smoke mate

i have the same, a few days ago i saw blue smoke { also it was decatted en the midsilencer left} when i was in a traffic jam and now it is normal again it looks normal now ,will it start smoking again?

my mate has spent all evening hounding me about this and trying to persuade me to let him take the engine out so we can re-build it.... trying to get me to invest in new rods etc and do something silly

Its tempting i must say..... we'll see once the suspension is done how my wallet feels then
