hi there,, does any one know if the alternator on the rs2 , the same or would fit without any problems on my aby s2 ???,,, one for sale on flee bay and i need one urgent ,, as car now off the road which is not on !!
i have checked the brushes etc , and cleaned contacts , a think its seen better days
any help would be greatfull cheers dave//
hi,, yeah i did think about this , but when looking into alternator i fuond where the brushes meet against the spindle , you the copper bit , it appears to have a burnt bit/small section of this missing , i dont know if this can be rectified / re-conned
I would have thought they are compatible without any issues, that one on ebay seems a fair price to pay, but then you dont know how long that one will last.

You'll need to identify which alternator you have first, IIRC there are two versions, one being a higher ampage than the other for fitting in cars with aircon.
Don't think there'd be an issue with using one with a high power output if yours doesn't have aircon, but would think that using the lower one if you do have aircon, wouldn't work.
The data sticker on the car will have a data code if it's the higher one, it can also be found on the first page of your service book. Use MikeS2's site to decifer the data codes here
