    Pressure tested

I followed a link about homemade pressure test kit. The part cost me under 2 notes from B'n'Q, deal. Did the markH mod, 27 notes, bargain. My O ring was twisted and about 3 times the original size. The car was just slightly leaking from somewhere near the butterfly. The question is, link said plug the pressure tester into MAF hose and pump and listen, but with out putting a stopper into the pipe that comes from bottom of the inlet to the turbo, through a T-piece, one part of the T to the bottom pipe of the WGFV and the other part to the air box, you can pump all day as the pressure just gets released out of this? I'm i missing somethink here or is that right

    Thanks to all
    Martin.

Plug the pipe from the rocker cover.
It's easy to get to on an ABY - bit more fiddly on a 3B. We use a extension from socket kit.

So this pipe also needs plugging also along with the pipe to air box, when pressure testing? Could this pipe be the leak im hearing as its over in that direction?
I understsnd that you cant tell me over the net whats leaking. Buts its another candidate to change to silicon? yes/no?

I don't know which pipe to the air box you are talking about.
Is your car an ABY or a 3B?
Post some pics and I'll draw you some arrows on them.

Ive sus'ed out the image thing and i cant at moment. ABY avant. This is a question ive asked before, because my WGFV was plummed in incorrectly. Does the bottom pipe from the WGFV go only to the inlet side of the turbo. or, to air box and inlet to the turbo under MAF hose? because theres a plastic T-piece allowing this?

It sounds like its been messed about with. There shouldn't ba a pipe going into the airbox, one outlet of the wgfv should go into the maf to turbo pipe, the middle wgfv outlet goes to the turbo coldside (under the turbo inlet) and the last one goes to the top chamber of the wastegate.
try to get a pic posted.

Martin Richards (two martins lol) take your airbox out of the car to confirm that the pipe is going to box or just under it.

I thought my WGFV went to the airbox when i first bought my car, but the pipe had just been routed underneath the box.

Deffo, goes to the air box. Had all the pipes, air box out and bumper off as i was pressure testing it and doing the markH mod. Did think this was a mod as the WGFV was piped up to its self, to, i surpose, confuse the ECU to think that it wasn't broken, it worked till i found this out re-plummbed it and found that it was faulty.Terrible MPG due to this. Yesterday, i put a bolt in it, the car won't boost at all. Then i connected a small K-N type filter, this restricted the pressure and seems not to over boost, havnt given a full test up the motorway. My car is an L-reg ABY are their other ABY'ers out thier with something different?
                  Thanks
                  martin

Looks like the previous owner went to Superchips or Dialynx

WGFV wiring should look like this pic.

The long tube goes into the intake hose. The tube pointing down goes to the turbo pressure side and the left over tube(opposite the longer one) goes to the wastgate.

Mate that wasn't standard on any S2, only 3 pipes, i'd get your car piped up as in that pic and ditch the Airbox pipe, it shouldn't be there period.

Hmm, you know that sounds like dodgy cam timing, and the plumming was put in to make it boost.

I'd take it to Audiman and get him to check your car over, give him some warning he's only a little fella and will need to get the stilts out. :mischeif:
