Thats the last place I'd like... phook sake like !Originally posted by Chris MI'd have a look on superchips website to see if your car is listed.
The KV engine (I had one for 10 yrs - drove it for 7) is a mighty engine - essentially a non-turbo version of the block in the mightier S2. Same crankshaft for goodness sake.
Like any engine, it will respond best to mods which get the most air into the engine. As a K-Jetronic system, this scheme will deliver more fuel to accompany the extra air.
The KV engine (despite the K-Jetronic terminology) is a lovely old analog beastie - it doesn't have chips for fuelling or ignition. Do a search on Jetronic - its a wonderful invention but the Audi incarnation isn't up for power above 300bhp in WR and WB format.
Ignition timing is controlled by rudimentary dwell timing in the KV ignition timing module - its a sealed electronic unit. I've never heard of anyone creating programmable versions of that.
For the KV engine look at mods such as sports exhausts, free flowing airboxes and filters to increase the FLOW of air thru the engine. Power & Torque is pretty much proportional to that. Exotic camshafts can help but there can be a trade off in flow at high engine speeds in detriment to low down torque. For a little more money look at increasing compression ratio and/or modified cylinder heads with bigger valves that can flow more air.
Its all about getting extra AIR - then you can add fuel to the needs and increase ignition advance to release more performance... but don't go too high on timing or CR as you'll get into potential knock issues.
There are no chips on the KV engine. In stock form its 136bhp (100kW).
Then there's nitrous to consider - much less risk in a non turbo engine.....Paul Nugent

on my old KV engined type 85 90quat
it took ported and polished head ,schrick cam,big valves from a golf, stainless exhaust piper cross induction kit and a few other bits n bobs to give me a whole 176bhp then a 50 shot of nitrous which gave mi 212bhp (obviously nitrous isnt an exact science)
could do 0-60 in 7 and standing 1/4 in 15.3 .but the works cost a small fortune for very little power .also speak to chris, jogi730 he went for the stroker approach on his KV now he got S2 power but its all great fun in a grandpa mobileNautic Blue UR-Quattro RS2spec ABY20v kkk26/27 hybrid,Bremsport Brake Kit n some other Gubbins.water injection.
