    ISV cleaning

    Hey hey fellow keepers

Kitty the Koupe needs her MAF cleaned, which I think I can do fairly easily (and I have access to copious amounts of IPA to do the job).

However, I understand that it is also a good idea to clean the ISV...

...but how much of it do I need to remove and clean?

Do I just need the barrel shaped bit off the back (the bit with the electrical plug on it and the small hoses, held in by the rubberised loop)? Or do I need to remove more than that?

    Help and advice appreciated!

I cleaned my ISV recently, just did the barrel shaped bit with the plug on it. I also cleaned the MAF and the throttle body. One or all of these made the car a flyer again and i now need 4 new tyres!

BTW i was told to make sure i lubed the ISV after cleaning or it will seize up eventually, I just gave it a squirt with WD40 after it was cleaned with IPA.

Thats all I had to disassemble on my 3B. Three jubilee clips, one on the little TBV hose, and the two on the ISV + electric connector. The rubber thing is quite flexible, now after having done it a few times removing the ISV is a 1~2 minutes job..

      Oops not fast enough..

Thanks to both of you! Will do as suggested when I get hold of the IPA (waiting for one of the composite guys to get back to work on Tuesday).

Think I need to get WD40 on the throttle linkage too - mine seems to stick just a tiny bit above idle and it causes havoc with the stabilising, especially when hot. Push it back and the idle settles down nicely - but the linkage hardly seems to move?!!
