    Camshafts

    Hy people!

May-be you can help me. I would like to know what is the intake camshaft maximum overlap before piston reaches the high point.

My problem is that i tried to use intake camshafts that opens 20 degrees before and it didnt worked out because intake valves allready hampered the piston. Problem is that i cant regularise intake camshaft by one degree. If i would have adjustable gear wheel, i wouldnt have a problem. Im talking about 7A intake camshaft and AAN motor.

    Do you have any suggestions?

Have you got both 7A cams fitted?? I've got a 7A exhaust cam and stock inlet cam. The 7A inlet isn't really worth fitting, for the amount you'll gain in power you'll lose in torque and lag. I'm thinking of getting a engineers shop to re-profile my 7A inlet cam, not come up with any numbers yet been far too busy.

    Cheers,

    Chris

      Maku:
A 7A intake cam shouldn't be a problem if correctly degreed. It's a stock cam (or do 7A pistons have valve cutouts? )

"Opens 20 degrees before" : Measured at what lift? Correct should be open 6 degrees before TDC and close 38 after BDC at 1mm lift

      Chris:
Have you tested both stock and 7A inlet on same engine? Dyno plots?

      Cheers,
      Roger

I put intake cam one coq earlier, so that intake open 20 degrees before. But it was to much.. ADU opens 13 degrees before and there is no problem. I thought that 20 degrees wouldnt be a problem, but looks like it is.

What considers outlet cam, thats not AAN either. Its custom 207 10,4mm cam. I have one pair of cams in the garage more (240 9,5mm - 240 10,5mm), Im gonna try to attune them better.

Why i tried with a earlier inlet cam? Because then fresh air would flush out the cilinder more effective..

Where can i get adjustable gear wheel?

I haven't tested the stock 3B engine with them in but Doug has tested them on his car with the R/R results. He gained 3BHP more and got more lag and less low down torque but it revved harder higher up the rev range.
