    Smokey

    Right..................I'm confused.

Since the rebuild I seem to have gained a smokey start. When I start the car after it has been stood for a while, it smokes blue, oil smelling smoke but ONLY if I leave the car to idle. So start it up drive off, it leaves a smal puff of blue. If I leave it to Idle it smokes pure blue smoke. It does this if I leave it for 5 mins, 30 mins etc...........drive off and no smoke . I'm confused. It does loose water also so I'm thinking it could be the head gasket slightly out of place/not tight enough? The 2 do NOT mix at any point though. Any idea's guys? I'm lost. I've been told it could be the Oil seals in the Turbo, but wouldn't this smoke all the time ?(and not at Idle)

I wouldn't have thought i'd be the turbo seals if its doing it on idle. Is there any oil in the pipe attached to the throttle body?? Could be valve stem oil seals. Does it smoke on gear changes??

    Cheers,

No smoke on gear change or at any other time apart from running from cold on idle

Thats the exact same as mine, nothing whilst driving, nothing from cold, but once its been standing and idling for a bit it starts to smoke really badly, start driving and it goes.

Only smokes if its been idling for ages tho, smokes when hot tho, not cold.

Its getting rebuilt soon anyway so not a big worry, but would be nice to know what it is.

Any Solutions to this problem as my car seems to have joined in on this phenomenon.

            smoke at idle!!

if i start my s2 and leave it to idle for more than 10 seconds a big cloud of blue smoke fills my rear view mirror. if i drive straight off after starting its fine. this only happens when cold! i have read a few threads saying of the same problem but none of them say if they cured the problem and/or what caused it. any ideas?

check ot the turbo: or take out the cooler and se how mutch oil inside... read if you have bad blow by...it may smoke, because the cranc went goes in the IM.... try to have the hose for the cranc vent in some bottle....
its most comment , with the blow by , the 3, piston are cracked.... from the oil squirt cut out in the piston, to the oilring groove....
