    Fixing 100 S4 Intercooler mounts

Had this strange rattle off the car and after hunting about i found it to be the intercooler has been knocked and the rubber mounts have come out of there holders which is causing the cooler to bang about when accelerating ,as you can imagine i need to fix asap because of the damage that might occur to the cooler ,The one bit of info that i need is has anyone had this problem and what way is the best to tackle it ,by the looks of it i will need to take the washer bottle out and a bit of the grill to get into it is there anything else that i can do to make it easier for me to fix it

    Cheers

Would it be easier to take the bumper off?? Im not 100% sure on the older S4's. I know on A4/S4 type cars bumper off is the best way to access the IC.

Just had ours out the other week, when you have the front bumper off there is plenty of room to get at the mounts without removing anything else. The intercooler sits very close to the bumper so any bump at all on the front left will push the intercooler back and bend the mounts, hit a wall hard and it will split the intercooler as we discovered.

The front mount holds the IC with two rubber mounts, the rear mount is bolted to the IC so when it gets pushed back the front mount slips out and leaves the IC flopping around with only one bolt on the rear holding it in the car.

      Mark.

As the others have said, take the bumper off. I had to change my intercooler the other day and tried to do it without the bumper off which wasn't terribly successful! I ended up taking the bumper off anyway! It's easy enough to take off and gives easy access to the intercooler and I wish I'd asked someone cos it would have been loads simpler. You know it makes sense!!
