    K26/GT3071 Dual BB Turbocharger

Found a link to this on rs246 and wondered if anyone has experience of this hybrid?

    looks a nice unit,

im also looking for an alternative to the RS2 unit

faster spool up is ideal for my aplication

UK exchange rates make it really cheap to!!

would imagine you would need a tubular manifold to go with it tho

would RS2 manifold be man enough for the maximum power output that would be capable of?

    regards
    will

Doug_RS2 is on a RS2 manifold and is running 440 BHP!

Do believe that most people think the limit of the RS2 EM is about 420 IIRC

It is not so much the increased power that this is supposed to give but i presume as it spins up quicker there would be less turbo lag????????

What is the point in having a faster spooling than RS2 turbo when it will only surge by making boost at such low RPMs???

Hmm it will go over the surge line?
Personal experience or calculated from compressor map?

Not for this particular turbo but BTDT for several other Garrett compressors where theory got confirmed by practice....

Not always Mihnea, as you know, choice of hotside a/r has a big difference upon whether a turbo will surge.
You have also 'BTDT' with my 57 trim (which does not surge) compared with another 57 trim that you mapped in the U.S. with a smaller hotside than mine, which I remember you saying surged badly.
Choice of hotside (where there is a choice) makes a big difference and should be considered carefully.

I'm going to show my lack of knowledge here, but the old RR and ABY engines have their torque peaks at low RPM's (1900ish) and i presumed that this was because the turbo's on these cars spooled up quicker than the turbo on my RS2. Why will a quicker spooling turbo surge (which i presume means that it will overboost but again i may be wrong) on the RS2 engine. Can the boost not be governed by the engine management system.

If i'm being a bit thick (which is more than likely) then i apologise but i'm confused!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Having one fitted to my 10v ur quattro as we speak. Mihnea recommended an RS2 unit but decided on this as they sell like hot cakes in the states (they are still quite new) and have had a load of development. They are specifically designed as a replacement for the RS2 unit (in an RS2 of course) so am not sure how it will go but will let you know!
