    No more umpf @ 250km/h

So, "a friend of mine" did a little speeding today. Turns out, the d@mn thing won't do more than 250km/h. At 250, it's as if all the juice is out. It pulls strongly up to 240, 245 and then it sort dies... You feel the car going powerless. I mean, it's not the same feeling as when you've reached maximum speed, you know, like it stops accelerating gently and then stays put on a certain speed. With, let's say, my Jetta, the feeling when you start to reach top speed, is more like "it wants to rev more but won't" - this was "apparently" more like "it revs, it revs, it's not revving but staying put, a sudden change in acceleration". This is more of a sudden event, as if a speed limiter went in. The change in acceleration is so noticable, it's as if the turbo won't deliver any more flow/pressure. The car has a 295hp MTM chip. There were some fault codes a few weeks ago that haven't been investigated though, but should they effect this? Throttle sensor (intermediate), both home- and rpm-sensor (intermidiate). It is a bit jerky, you know, it twitches on the way up there, my guess, however, is that the jerking and twitching is due to home- and/or rev-sensor.

I realize that 250 is fast, but the way it sort of "dies" up there feels wierd. I don't know, could this be a sign that the turbo is starting to reach it's end? It does seem to use up some oil too. Oh, and 250, that is according to the speedometer, I know it's not true speed, but it's used here too describe the symptoms.

Maybe you guys could help my "friend".

That equates to 155mph which sounds suspiciously like the speed limiter kicking in. IIRC there are limiters on late ABY's.....??

Yeah but this thing is chipped. After careful thought I believe it's lack of fuel.

if it was lack of fuel, surely it would start pinking wouldnt it? causing you to either put a hole in the cylinder, or the ecu limp mode should cut in shouldnt it?

At 250kph,the engine is doing over 6k rpm.(≈41kmph/1000).My experience with MTM chips for the ABY engine are they die at 5.5k-6k.Replacing the chipest with MRC will let the engine rev more freely at the top end (btdt).Ask Mihnea for more technical info!

C'mon, that can't be it. It pulls strongly on every gear. It's just a high speed it shows. Things thing pulls every gear to 7G... Or? Maybe they have a speed limit after all then...

How often do you do 250Kph?Thru the gears it wont be noticable.A race S2 here had the same problem of dying at high speed.Swaped out the MTM chips, top speed increased!I am not saying that this is the problem with your friends car,but it could be a factor.

Aha.... Wierd. No I admit, 2-50 isn't the "normal" speed. Maybe that's it then...
