No power at specific Throttle Position

Hi Guys and Gals(do we have any on the forum yet??)
I have a problem on gentle acceleration or on steady speed driving in the RS2.
Under very Light acceleration power is there and the car moves along or accelerates slowly, then I hit this "dead" spot probably about a third the way down at a particular point in the acelerator position the power seems to fade away and as soon as I press the accelerator( gas pedal for those on the wrong side of the Atlantic)
past this point the car goes like a bat out of hell.

Its not rev related, Ive changed coils, MAF and Plugs.

Could it be the Throttle position Potentiometer, what does this device actually do?
Idling is fine MOST of the time so I do not suspect the ISV, but could it be?

I would guess TPS, connect a multimeter up to the sensor and measure the resistance, the value should move slowly through the range between open and closed throttle. I would expect to see the value drop around the 1/3rd position if that is where you get a flat spot.

mastermind - with the car switched on but engine not running log throttle position on VAGCOM as you slowly depress the throttle. You will quickly see if the TPS is faulty. While you are at it make sure that the max throttle position is more than 92.

            Thanks Guys
Looks like Ive got some work to do, and It looks like it can be fixed rather than replaced, so I'll give it a try.

Changed the Throttle Sensor and there was no difference
Here are the fault codes I'm getting.
Do you think I need to change the Lamda or could it be the MAF(not sure it the one I tried previously was 100%).

              Faults Found:
              00561 - Mixture Adaptation
13-00 - Adaptation Limit (Mul) Not Reached
00537 - Lambda (Oxygen Sensor) Regulation
              08-10 - Control Limit Surpassed - Intermittent

Looks like it may be the lambda. Worth replacing anyway if the old one has done anywhere near 60K miles.

Did you clear the codes before re-testing?

dunno if this helps given that i have a 7a. what style of tps do you have? is the tps separate from the idle switch or incorporated into the tps? mine was all one switch and the idle part of it was causing the same symptoms as you. i fixed it by making a hybrid. newer style tps with idle switch connector cut off on an older throttle body with separate idle switch.

maybe a long shot but i had the same problem and fixed in this manner.

my O2 was throwing a code too but fixing it didn't solve my problem.

My TPS has the idle switch in the same unit.

I will try another O2 sensor and see if it inproves. I cleaned all the contacts of the MAF, TPS , O2 and now it seems intemitent and not there all the time

I tried an old Lambda sensor I had stored with some old parts in the Garage.
The problem disappeared but now my fuel consumption is gone for a ball of ****.
So I need a new Lambda. Any1 know the Bosch PN for the Leaded Fuel Lambda?
                      Do these PNs make any sense Audi 077 906 265 or Bosch 0 258 003 994/094?
