    80K Rs2 engine, or upgrade my 93K ABY ?

    Guys,

I felt rather left out at billing, did not have any engine mods to speak of. I have done a few weekends over-time , & am gonna bite the bullet.

I have a choice, spend on a RS2 engine + install, or have my looked after 93K upped to 350 ish BHP .

Should I go for the pose of the Porsche engine, or the easy option .

PS I have upgraded the brakes, & will probably be renewing the clutch soon.

You guys that have BTDT, please help.

    Imran.

Just use the engine you already have and buy yourself an RS2 Ex. manifold and an upgraded turbo, RS2 Injectors and a re-map. Should be good for 350-380 bhp ish

Agreed, your ABY block is the same at the ADU's, and apart from a different cam your cylinder head is the same also, same goes for the inlet manifold, it just doesnt have 'porsche' written on it.
My 3B was on 200k when it got RS2'd, dont worry about mileage.

What sort of costs we looking at for above mods ?. How much change from £100 will I have ?. I have my eye on plastic chrome 16V badge from Halfords (£6.99) which will look a treat next to my S2 badge .

You'll need a better intercooler as well - RS2 or bigger. And maybe a better exhaust cam, bigger downpipe, bigger exhaust to maximise the RS2 spec bits.

Depends if you fit new or used parts. Im not sure of the current rate for a new turbo or manifold.
I paid £450 for a nearly new turbo and a set of injectors , and £350 for an as new ex manifold.
Put the word out what you want and you may get a good deal.
There are other things needed though as Doug says, dont forget a motorsport fuel pump too.

                @ Doug,

I had a basic chat with you at Billing about an RS2 spec upgrade. I still need the car to be an 'every day' drive. When you have a mo please can you give me a ball-park figure for what you think the total cost for a 300-350 bhp upgrade will cost.

It will give me a better idea/nightmare as to how many more hours my 3 wives will have to put in at the 'Bernard Matthews Gibblet Processing Plant'.

They are only currently working an 85 hour week. (Lazy #*~$%).

                Cheers,

                Imran.

Imran, be good to get mods in your engine bay! Make sure they are done right cos your car looks mint!
i know what you mean with the bug for more power too! i really want more and it starts to fade a bit after a few weeks, then i meet up with people on here again and it bites me again!

We'll all get there eventually lol

Keep talking guy's! - I'm interested in the LSD (Pounds, Shillings and Pence) side of getting up to the 350bhp ball park - I'm MTM'd to 280(ish) at 115K miles, just wondering whether to go for the 'next level' or look for an S4 (B6) with limited 'upgrade' options. - Any thoughts? - thanks.

Here's some info from another thread.

RS2 Turbo £400-£800 depending on source and if anyting needs fixed
RS2 exhaust manifold is £400 ish new
RS2 intercooler is also about £400 new
RS2 fuel injectors are about £40 each new
RS2 or 7A exhaust camshaft - anywhere from £50 to £500 depending on source

So thats £1500 ball park in parts alone, before you'll need an ECU upgrade with 3bar MAP sensor and remapped software to suit. That probably gets you into the territory of £2000 to do the job on top of whatever you need to pay a mechanic.

Is it possible to put the V6 S4 engine in the S2?

                              A B6 S4 (V8) is a totally different car to an S2 - and a LOT more cash.

I would get a bigger downpipe and better exhaust as well.
