    RS2 green injectors, garrett gt3071r

    Hi all,

At the moment I am collecting parts to upgrade the s2. I have the following configuration in mind:
    - rs2 bearings + rs2 headgasket (I already have)
    - 7a exhaust cam (ordered, hope it will arrive next week)
    - 600 x 300 x 75 intercooler (ordered will arrive next week)
    - garrett GT3071r (not yet ordered)
    - rs2 injectors (ordered hope to arrive next week)
    - rs2 exhaust manifold (searching)
    - 3"exhaust + downpipe (after engine rebuilt)
    - head flow (not yet)
    - fuel pump, bosch sport(not yet ordered)
    -etc.

I was wondering if the injectors will be big enough to support the garrett GT3071r. I am hoping to have lots of low torque with max hp output of +/- 430 hp.

    thanks,

    erik

you will struggle with these injectors for this power.

Hmm, I thought (hoped) that it would do for 450 hp. Will it be the weakest link ?

Graham, the injectors will be enough for 430 HP. Mark Halligan had 430 HP on his RS2 injectors, and there was plenty enough of fuel there.

Happy to here that Mihnea, thanks!

P.S. do you have experience with the garrett turbo GT3071R?

I know billman, you already warned me . I hope it will be ok, I hope mihnea can tune it that it would act like a rs2 turbo at low revs and put 400+ hp at high revs.

Erik, we'll see, I have never tried that turbo, lots of people say it's very good but I'll only say that once I have tuned a car with it.

Regarding the rods, I don't see anything to worry about. The rods only bend if detonation is present, and I don't have the habit of tuning cars with any detonation...

                HTH,

You'll get that kind of power with 2871, which might spool up a bit easier than 3071.

Prepare to have some headache with surging between 3000 and 4500rpm, if You don't have adjustable pulleys. This if You use .63 A/r turbine.

I would be a bit afraid for the rods if You don't limit the boost at mid-range, even w/o detonation...

Repo, do you think I'm talking about tuning the car or about messing with it so it just makes some power but sort of not knowing how/why??????

What I have understand is that the gt3071r has a pretty quick spool up, +/-3000. And it has max output of around 450 hp. I thought the gt2871r will not pass the 400hp, buto ofcourse I can be wrong

I read pretty good stories of the garret gt3071r on a german forum. But if someone knows a better alternative, please let me know. It is pretty hard to find information of a garrett turbo fitted on a audi.

Mihnea - not by any means, where'd You get that impression?

What I referred is that torque closing to 600NM will be dangerously high for stock rods. Ans yes, even without knocking.

Erik - I have installed some, results and thoughts in PekkaS' +400hp? - thread.

We made +450hp with 2871, and faced lots of surging probs, 'cause of the lack of adjustable pulleys. Package was able to push 2 bar at 2700 rpm, but the engine was not ready to swallow it all. So we needed to limit the boost between 2500 and 4500 rpm.

After this the cams are adjusted, and now the same package takes 1,9 bar from 2800 to 5000 rpm. Hasn't been on a dyno after that though...

I wouldn't push such a turbo past 1.7 Bar at low revs for anything in the world, especially on stock rods. That's what I should have written in my first reply to the thread, lol

Thanks Repo, that looks pretty interesting!!.

I didnt knew that the gt2871r is able to push 450 hp+. It is exactly what I am after, max torque doesnt exceed 550nm and hp is 400+. If the gt2871r is cable of doing over 450+, what will the gt3071 do?

Don't you think the rs2 manifold will give problems, and could be the weakest link?
