    Part availability

Hi folks.. My 3B S2 has been in a local supposedly reputable garage all week. It's been cutting out intermittently for a while now, and eventually died. Got the codes read courtesy of Doug_RS2 and his mate.. cheers. It's needing a new hall sensor.. well it's a start anyhoo. This prick at said supposed local reputable garage never got feckin round to doing the job and fobbed me off all week. Last night I just went in and took the feckin thing, and luckily it started and got me home, and only cut out once Now this dude says he has the part I need and will fit it on Monday.. I've no intentions of going back there, but he says this part is not now available.. but he has one!! VAGParts seem to be closed this morning - so does anyone know if this part is indeed available??????

If your local dealer isn't being much help, just phone around a few others ..... the numbers are all on the main website.

That's for dizzy version 1, check previous page. It says dizzy1 = 10V KV engine one.

I dunno if it still fits. May fit.

It won't fit. You need to buy the whole dizzy for a 20v engine.

When you've got a parts problem you need to 'come see your dad' :mischeif:

Bit late on this one but as Mihnea said you can't buy the hall sender for the 20V distributer you have to buy the whole unit.

Depending on your chassis number it's one of the following:

                      034 905 237 BX (034 905 205 Q) for vehicles up 8B-N-005500. Retails @ £132.80 + VAT

                      or

                      034 905 205 AA (034 905 205 AA) for vehicles 8B-N-005500 onwards. Retails @ £182.07+ VAT

It's an aproxiamate chassis change though so it's best to get the part number from the metal body of the old one so you can match it up. I've put the factory numbers in brackets after the part numbers for you.

Actually you can. Golf2 GTI16 hall should fit. No guarantees, but that's what I've heard. They're sold separately.

Just had diagnostics done from a reputable autospark. It would appear it ain't the distributor that's the problem at all.. as car still runs when distributor is disconnected. Included in the fault codes I had pulled earlier was code 00513 which indicates a faulty Engine Speed Sensor. Can someone please verify the part number for this? Or indeed if someone has a spare?
