which parts needed for engine rebuild

Hi all,

Can someone tell me which parts (gaskets, bearing etc.)will be needed to rebuild an engine, without upgrading the rods and pistons.

I know of the following:
- rs2 bearings
- rs2 headgasket

But I am sure you will need more parts , Is there maybe a kit with contains all the parts.

engine and head gasket kit does not include turbo to exhaust gaskets or engine to turbo oil line gaskets these need to be bought seperately,get you crankshaft checked out by a good engineering shop with new bearings to suit,best to change all the exh manifold studs,crankshaft bolt and pulley too if your going that far,there are loads of other bits too which i cant think of,hope that helps...

The cylinder head bolts, can I use the standard ones(new ofcourse), or do I need stronger ones.

Why do I need a second oil pan gasket?

I recently replaced the thermostat, small water hose,waterpump, timing belt, roller, crankshaft bolt,(about 5.000 km back) can I use them again or do I need to buy new ones.

What are hydraulic valve clearance tappets?,

Okee, I made a list with parts I think I have to replace with the etka numbers:

- Set RS2 bearings

connecting rod bearing shell, lower 034 105 701 (yellow)

connecting rod bearing shell, upper 034 105 701 B (yellow, violet)

- RS2 headgasket 034 103 383 AD
- Turbo gaskets,between EM and turbo 034 129 589 D
- manifold gasket, between engine and EM 034 129 589 A
- exhaust manifold studs (16 pcs RS2) N 906 483 01
- (?)Allen key head bolt (12 pcs RS2) 034 103 385 C
- set piston rings (3B) 026 198 151 A
- gasket for oil sump (3B 2pcs) 074 103 609 F
- set of gaskets for cylinder head cover (3B) 034 198 025 F
- Timing chain, I will use 7 a cam(s) 077 109 120 ( 3B and 7A are the same)

Can I use the rs2 exhaust manifold studs and the rs2 head bolts?

If someone has to add something please do.

You need the second pan gasket because the set only includes one and 2 are used.

I ment cam followers (Ventilstößel if you're more familiar with that term).

RS2 and S2 head bolts are the same.

Btw original piston rings cost silly money. Get them elsewhere. Same as golf2 gti16v KR PL engines.

EM gasket is included in the set if you buy the gasket set as you should. Quattronutter ment EM to turbo gasket and turbo oil feed gaskets. These are not included.
Same applies to the head gasket etc. Get the whole head set from Reinz P/N 02-29335-01 and cost around 200 euros. Block set is 08-29178-01 and is a cheap one.
