Right I think i've got big problems with the car , RS2... I don't seem to have any boost , got the guy who has been looking after it to a look. He pressurised the induction side / hoses and apparently there are no leaks, the intercoolers ok, and the wastegate's been checked and is also ok.Checked the turbo , which is spinning up ok. The car, other than feeling like it's got 160 bhp as opposed to 360bhp, still drives sweet, is smooth and idles steady.... So any further ideas? P.s the guy wholooks after it is not a dedicated Audi specialist but works for himself after working for AFN porsche for 35yrs...
Any ideas anyone???

Suspect the Wastegate control valve (WGFV) these play up. It is near to the MAF with two hoses going into it. Just rev the car up and you should hear it clicking. If not then try changing it.
Other than that, haveyou pulled fault codes? This can be done as shown on S2central.net. This may help find the prob.sigpic

had someone run a diagnosti the other day, only came up with G71 intake pressure sender. code 0519.. presumablycheck what it says on VAG COM diagnostics. Out of interest it says check the fluid separator, can anyone enlighten me as to what and where this is....Last edited by jubjub; 12 November 2003, 20:24.Comment

I wonder if the fluid seperator is the 'water vapour trap' Tom replaced a short while ago?? its like a small old style fuel filter, without the filter, inline to the ECU.
Tom, what do you reckon? I have never heard of this fluid separator ever on an S2, or... I wonder if its the container inside the right hand wing??

Yep - the S2 has a water/vapour trap alright - its a little container in the bottom of left A-pillar. If you remove the lowest trim panel you will see it and the hoses to engine and ECU.

Jim - I'm pretty sure the beastie you are talkin about beneath the seat is a one-way valve. It ensures that only vacuum (never boost) is presented to the diff-lock actuators.

Thats the one Martyn. You have the part number there. I cant find it.
Jubjub-check the line to the ECU and if you are confident, check the rubber hose inside the ECU. If this is all ok. Use a vacuum pump and check to see if it holds up.

Got the car back tonight and mechanic gave a quick breifing... he did no have time to check the water/vapour trap so i'm hoping to have a quick look myself tomorrow. Should there be anything in the trap or not & if so is it a simple task of emptying it? He did check and cleana brown plug/ sensor ,just to the rear of the accelarator cable/ mechanism, went out for a test drive and low and be hold the power was back.He then left it for an hour , went out for another test and then was back to having no power.. Damn car ... any other ideas??Comment

There could be an amount of water in this water trap. I would expect any to evaporate (dry up) pretty quickly though when the inside of the car gets warm. Have a look for it (as per Paul's instuctions) and if its full of water, remove it and blow out the water until its dry. Easy enough to do.
The Audi parts description of this part is a 'fuel condensor!!' wierd! its part number is 034 131 527 and only costs about £3 UK.
Here is the part:Attached FilesComment
