my turbo is not in the best of health, has anyone tried using the turbo from an mb 10v turbo, slightly bigger than the k24 unit but i believe it will bolt straight up,the inlet flange is bigger but i can sort that no problem, anyone tried this?and will it produce more boost pressure than a k24 is capable of????

This is virtually no-go solution. Because it (K26 from MB) is not so much more capable that k24 (from audi 20v engine). Second issue, that you need a remap to use it properly. Also ir has noticeable turbo lag when compared with K24.
I'm using K26 from MC engine instead of K24. Not right solution if you want power. If you want turbolag - yes, K26 is bigger, spools slower. I like it . But if you want to drive a car, especially every day - I suggest you to refurbish your turbo, or get new or "new" used one.
It is possible to use K26 (MB has water+oil cooled one - right ?) like temporary solution. Car still drives without remap, however you are losing power in low rpm.
