    Throttle Potentiometer

With the help of Vag-Com and a pointer from Paul N. I have found one of my problems.

At W-O-T my throtle switches (in Group 004) show 00100 instead of 10100. As a result I'm not getting overboost.

However, my throttle angle (in Group 003) shows 98.6degrees at W-O-T which sounds pretty open to me and seems to show the pot is working.

I've checked the pot physically and all seems well.

Does anyone know where 10100 is generated, or in my case not generated.

Just seems odd to me that 98.6deg does not equal W-O-T.

    Cheers

Jim - I'll have to compare your logs to mine. I can stick my spare throttle pot in the post if U wanna quick test...

Have you check the adjustment of your thriottle body yet - requires a ~5mm drill bit ?????????

I've always been suspicious about VAG-COM reporting that as angle in degrees - I have an inkling (as yet unproven) that it should be in terms of %age. Two reasons -

    1. I dont see how the throttle can be open any more than 90 degrees

    2. The ECU uses %age opening to determine boost regulation - and surprise surprise, you only get overboost at 100% throttle opening...

    Cheers,

      Thanks Paul,

I did a few more checks on the pot at the wekend. I noticed that WOT only gives 2900ohms, a bit on the low side so I assume this is the problem.

I lost the copy of the adjustment instructions with the 5mm drill. Do you have this or where can I find it (tried on S2Central and SJM but could not find it).

Downer is the pot is a $$$+++ part by the looks of things.

You have a PM regarding the spare pot'

      Cheers
