Problem with 7A cams and RS2 turbo

    Hy guys!

Im using 7A cams and RS2 turbo, but chips are regular stage1 for K24. Cams are fitted a little bit differently than they are originally. Intake cam opens 6 degrees after.

My problem is that after 5700rpm fuel/air mixture is going lean, why I dont know. I tried to adjust hall sensor but it didnt make any difference. Right now Im thinking that original chips are not ment to work with 7a intake cam, because it is much "longer" than AAN intake cam. Overboost is 1,5 bar. Some local guys said that fuelpump is weak. Is it so?

What do you guys think, what could be the problem?

Some folks here in the US have used the Porsche 928GTS pump rather than the Bosch 044 motorsports pump, as it has similar flow and is more readily available and less expensive.

I'd also try to get a program tailored to your engine setup before throwing parts at the car. A standard chip definitely was not written for the RS2's K26 (check the part numbers, they are all xx26 not xx24) and 7A cam set.

isn't the RS2 turbo giving the engine a litte more air when operating on 1.5 bar than a standard K24? higer fuel pressure maybe would solve it.. .? Or a chipset designed for the Rs2 would be preffered... (I guess...)

the chip gives the engine fuel for aprox 270bhp, while the turbo gives it air making aprox 340bhp.. somethings missing

You should make new chip for this setup. The cams are ok.

Im thinkig about putting AAN intake cam back, thats cheaper anyway than reprogramming chips. Reprogramming chips is kind of complicated anyway. I have emailed to mrc and to others, nobody replies anyway.

But some guys claim that changeing intake cam isnt the solution. They say that RS2 produces much more air than K24 and original fuelpump isnt able to "feed" motor. I dont buy it because my brothers S2 uses Garrett turbo which is better than RS2 turbo and there is no problem with lean mixture.

                  I dont let rpm-s over 5700rpm anymore.

What do you mean? As long as mixture is rich should everyhing be OK, or not?

Kinda sorta...The RS2 turbo CAN push more air, that is for sure. I'd imagine that the more aggressive NA cams matched with a higher flow potential turbo, the injectors are probably not flowing enough fuel in the upper RPM range (or are maxed out?). This is probably a programming "fault" because you are using a code set designed for a different engine package. Put your stock cams and K24 back in, and I'll bet it runs great.

If you are worried about fuel flow, when was the last time you changed your fuel filter? If it's been 2 years or more, change it now.
