some pictures...more trouble...snif..

Hi guys,
i took some pictures this afternoon and here is what i found.I think firstly that there is a bolt missing from the exhaust manifold,seems to be broken off....

then on the third picture you can see that the oil leak residues are coming from high up...can you tell where is that?can you help?
is it possible to lose so much oil in so little time,and this be the reason for it?

im afraid there is a broken stud in here.....
is this something for me to worry about?can i be losing oil from this area as well?

It happens sometimes. Especcialy when loosening them, they snap off. If its not leaking exhaust gases through it, I would worry about it to much. Next time when you unbolt stuff fix it.

is it fixable?i mean if i have to change the head gasket for the oil leaks,this can be mended as well?

i dont think there are exhausts leaking from there.But if they where,what would the symptoms be??

you would hear it ticking/blowing,more so when cold..

No symptoms with a little leak. When its a huge leak you'l hear it leaking. from what I can see on the pics, it doesn't seem te leak. No carbon deposit around it.
Fix it when you lift the head.

what can you say about the oil residues?do you think the gaskets could need a change?

Thats not the headgasket. The HG is between the block and the head. This is the valvecover gasket. Its sweaty, not a big problem, but worth fixing if you hate oil

try thicker oil first,looks like your rocker cover is leaking from the pics..

good....so there is nothing to worry about for the moment...at least.
In about 10-15000km i will be changing the timing belt.Maybe i'll dig a bit further in my pocket to do the whole bit and get it over with...in the meantime i will have changed to thicker oil to se the results...

Changing the valvecover/rockercover gasket is a 15 minute jobby. The gasket itself is cheaper then an oil change
