Temperature ?

Hi, what temp should Jimmy run at.
Last night it stayed at a quarter of the way. When im stuck in traffic the fan kicks in no problem, tho.
Does this mean that the thermostat is faulty

that is what the fan is supposed to do.Mine goes 2 points above 90 degrees when stuck in traffic(that is the engine's temperature).

The oil temperature has never exceeded the 70 degrees.

the fan does kick in the same just over 90, but my boyfriend is convinced that it should run at 90 or just under.

it depends on the type of thermostat used.Since in england the whether is mildly cold-to cold,audis are made to be driven in 90 degrees,or around tha figure.The thermostat has it's own temperature threshold.It could be working on 70 85 90 100 degrees etc..
if it where broken,then it wouldnt work at all,and you would have no ventilator movement,and temperature going way up in no time!

Mine (stock 3b) runs at a fraction below 90 during normal driving. Rises 2 notches above 90 in traffic which is when the fan cuts in.

that is excactly what happens to mine.2 notches above in traffic,a little less than 90 in normal driving,even more less than 90 in normal speeding(below 3500rpm)

same as mine althuogh on a hot day say 24 26 it will go 3 notches above.
