    Big jolts

Right, after a while of no probs two come along at once. Firstly a slow puncture which i think i can just about deal with . Secondly im on my way to football this morning around 9.30am gave it a bit of stick to get round those sunday drivers and as the car picks up and reaching 3500rpm where it usually just takes off i get huge jolts and hesitation and no pick up at all. Well i nurse it to football and on the way home i thought i would open it up on the straight to see if it happens again and it didnt. Then i tried on the next straight from fourth, big jolts and hesiatation. Any ideas? shall i get the codes read? Could it be a boost leak or ignition problem or fuelling. Any help guys thanks!

Sounds like boost leak from what you say about when the revs stop climbing.... Boost Protection mode

I had exactly the same problem a month or so ago - only when I planted my heavy right foot to the floor. Not sure what it's correct name is, but it turned out to be the flexible concertina like hose before the intake pipe. Replaced the hose - no more limping around .

Right well after reaing the thread that Girl Racer done the other day which was very similar to mine i decided to check the pipe going into the intercooler which seemed fine and also the MAF. I take it the maf is the bosch unit attached to the air box is this correct. Anyway i cleaned the connecter going into the bosch unit with some cleaner and degreaser. I also removed the two fuses coupled together by the red clip with motor on it for two mins as Paul suggested in that thread. Took her out for a blast and the car was fantastic better than before i would say or that could be the very cold air out there. I think i will do a search and clen the MAF unit and see how it goes what do u think? Thanks for all the help guys

Cleaning the MAF is usually a good point of call together with checking for boost leaks.

You can't miss the MAF. Follow the flow out of the airbox and it's the silver-coloured cylindrical metal object you first come to, with an electrical connection to it. Black plastic flat top where it plugs in.

The wire inside is really fine. What you will be able to notice is any dirt on the mesh screen that protects it.

I'd suggest a forum search on cleaning the MAF for details, as it's quite a sensitive bit of equipment.
