Took the car out today after cleaning the MAF. No more jolts and pick up was a lot smoother. Also when i let off the throttle no more small jolts as i said in a previous thread. Big thanks to everyone for there advice on the forum got me smiling again . One more thing on another thread it said to pull the fuse in the red casing with motor on it to reset the ecu.Would this affect my remapp? just making sure. Thanks again

Those fuses will just reset the ECU - effectively killing power to any volatile memory that stores fault codes and running data. This will NOT affect anything in the remapped EPROM chips on the ECU.

Stevie. I did have this on mine once - on a test drive past Polhill. Was cured by replacing a duff WGFV - (waste gate frequency valve) My symptoms were a normal driving caruntil I opened the throttle. When the boostcut in it felt like something was going to bang while the car was all juddery/jolty.

Have a quick search under WGFV..........

Done a pressure test and could not find any leaks. Would vag com show all these things i.e. boost leaks and wastegate diaphram

Stevie. Don't know anyone with VAG com round this way. I probably should be looking at getting one by now though...........My WGFV was a brand new one. I put it on after I had cleaned up my engine and put a set of Samco's on. I had already had a new one on the car but had a little incident while geting it fitted, one of the t's broke off. A little repair cured it but I wanted a new one for peace of mind (and vanity)

The first test drive I went on (Polhill) and I had exactly what you said. Thought I had messed something up.Checked all the hose clips to make sure they were tight, and I thought I'll put the old WGFV back on.Took it back out and it was sweet again........

Maybe I just got a duff one

If it was a boost leak /split hose would you not get the jolt's all the time ?

Just had a look through and it was the diverter valve Doug replaced to an s3 one. So it look as though i will replace the wgfv now and see if that helps. Also i think the MAF is also going to get a clean. Canu upgrade the wgfv to a performance one? Thanks for your help

Just cleaned the MAF to see if that helps. Quite dirty really considering i only done it 4 or so months ago. Just wondering do u have to clear the fault codes before i take it out on a test run? I mean will the fault codes automaticly make the car into overboost protection mode? cheers

WHy not perform an output test? At least that would show the WGFV is able to cycle

If you have the WGFV off the car you should be able to put a spade/wire to each terminal and hook it up to a battery. It should click away.I had a plug somewhere that plugs onto the terminals. The duff one did not click at all.........

Again if you search across some of the old threads on here, some people change it as part of a service. AFAIK, it is not a service item, and may hve never been changed. Like I say mine was duff straight out of the box .......
