1.You 'aint got and 85 Coupe 2.If you get one I 'aint fitting the engine!:wacked: 3. My Mk1 GT Coupe 1.9 was the 5pot 10 valve engine with carburettor. The injection arrived a little later on on the big bumpered mk2. The '85 Coupe had 4 and 5 pot engines as standard, if you gonna buy one look for the 5. Give me a shout and I will come with you and give it the once over.

      1. It isnt mine. 2. I wouldnt want to fit it either! My mate has the car with a knackered engine and has got hold of a 10v turbo.... Just wondered if anyone had any ideas apart from a box of matches?

As per phone call, could be a nightmare, ecu's,gauges, looms, fuse box(es),a mammoth task! :wacked:
Box of matches and buy another one or use the 100 turbo as it is if useable!

A doddle to fit a 10V turbo engine to your type 85, wiring isn't a problem. Only thing I've found is that the right hand brake servo fouls the wastegate. You will NOT get the engine in! I have had to use an early type 81 set up, pedal box and servo / cross linkage (same as Ur quattro albeit a vacumn operated system). Hope this helps.

The type 81 Coupe GT 5 cylinder engine also came with fuel injection - the JS motor 1,994cc 115PS and the WE motor 2,144cc 130PS. The JS was carried over to the type 85 (Mk2) but not the WE. The JS was later superceeded by the DZ motor 1,781cc 112PS, the KV motor 2,226cc 136PS was available from August '85 initially in the Coupe quattro, then later in the GT. The WN motor 1,921cc 115PS (carb) and the WE motor 2,144cc 130PS were never available in the type 85: in August '85, the basic Coupe was the DS motor 1,781cc 90PS, replacing the base model type 81 1,921cc carb.

BTW, I have a 1988 (E) Coupe GT in Lago Blue, absolutely mint, which I have fitted with the 2,309cc 20V (7A) motor from a type 89 Coupe (1991). This car is for sale, if anyone's interested.

I used to have a Coupe with 2144cc engine and fuel injection. Engine code was KE. Better engine was the KK from the 80q.
