Strange looking turbo

Hi,

Seen this on e-bay. Seller claims that this turbo can make 1000hp, however this is not the main poing - turbo cold side is very strange looking. Why it is so ?

This "S2" is much older than this forum . I mean it was used long time ago I've registered here. And here is not the place to say - but car there is better than S2 just because it is evo! .

yes it is able to produce 1000HP, but not for Gasoline spcs. This is a turbo for VOLVO PENTA ENGINE (MARINE). They use for engine boats and sometimes are 4 of them on 24 cylinder engine.

Also the hot housing (turbine) is cooled by water. The hights RPM on that engine 2200rpm. So you have the spcs.
