Check the fuel pump relay and fuse. (Fuse is #13) Fuel pump is triggered by the RPM / TDC senders on the side of the bellhousing / engine (left hand side) Check connectors and make sure they are dry and secure.

You can run the pump direct by fitting a "jumper wire" in the relay location. Can't remember which pins, I'll look tomorrow at an ABY. Or you can remove the plastic cover and manually push the contacts shut, and get an assistant to try starting the car while you do so.

Let's know how you get on.

I suspect the pump won't run due to another fault - possibly the cam or crank position sensors have got water in. You can also check the connectors behind the head which connect the ecu loom to the engine loom for water.

Get a hairdryer out and dry everything off

You really need to pull the codes after an attempted start. if you can't get Vag Com, you can use an LED.

I think Mike is on the money here. Its VERY bad form to pressure wash an S2 engine bay without the right precautions. You likely have waterlogged one or more connectors related to crank or cam timing... or the connectors taking primary voltage to the coilpacks... or the MAF connector can easily get soaked causing a no start. I've seen that once.

Theres a bank of connectors on the bulkhead in the engine bay. Two white, a blue, a green plus a grey and black. I can't remember all of their notations from memory but they all connect sensors and coilpacks to the ECU. Remove each one at a time and dry them out.

Try resetting the ECU by removing the two fuses under the red clip marked 'MOTOR'. Leave them out for a minute or two then replace them. This removes any fault codes that might be stored. Try and crank the engine again. If it starts at all then keep it running gently to dry it out properly.

If it doesn't start then you'll need to pull faultcodes - with VAGCOM - or with an LED as per the blink codes nonsense... As Mike says too !

Well if you'd asked first, I would have helped you by saying 'Oh no, don't pressure wash it, you'll open a can of worms' or something along those lines

oh poo a jet wash disaster,i only know that the green n blue are for the knock sensors.i know it might not be any help for you but at least u know where they go now.hope it all works out for you.the fuel pump relay has a fuse holder in the top i think if u put a 15amp fuse in it then it works that way to find out if its ok ask jason he might know.

Glad you got that sorted, at least you can get back on the road and look forward to an upgrade rather than major repairs!
