Swapping in 20vturbo motor, need help

I recently purchased a 1990 audi coupe quattro 20v 2.3 5spd car. I am extremely interested in swapping in a audi 200 trubo motor, or if I had any idea where to get an s2 or even better rs2 motor, one of those. I have owned many cars that I have swapped motors in such as 3sgte into 91 na mr2, sr20det's into numerous 240's, rb25det into 240, and my current car a 1990 crx with civic type r b16b. I found none of these swaps difficult at all and I am a licensed hd mechanic, but upon trying to get information on the motor swap for my audi, I could not get clear enough information aboout wirring and a few other issues. Has any body on this forum done the type of swap I'm looking at doing?? And any of the ohter motor swaps I've done, I'm kinda looking for a difficulty comparison, my dads a hardcore vw guy, but he cant seem to help me at all. I'm really in need of some direction here, your comments will dictate my choices on putting in the turbo motor or not very stronly. After all, I'm new to the audi community.

please help. I love my audi, I would just love it more if it had 300whp, help me.

Jason,
The 3B engine is a much easier swap than the AAN so your heading in the right direction. I have put an AAN engine in my coupe and the bolting in is a breeze but wiring can be a bit of a nightmare. With the 3B engine most of the stock wiring can be used making the job way less complicated. The ABY and AAN engines have more HP potential but if your only looking for 300whp the 3B will be fine. what kind of wirring is involoved?? do I need to re pin connectors? lenghten wires? add wires??? And with the 3b, obviously it's output is not very high, I need another 100hp or so, which is probably very atainable with bigger turbo, fuel pump, big fmic, etc. but by what measure would you control the new air fuel problems I create by upping boost by like 10ps. Can you use an safc on audi??? They have a maf, so I dont see whay not??? what dictates air fuel and spark on the motor??? MAf, o2 sensor, knock sensor?? what others?? air intake temp??? please keep the help comming. how much was your motor.... I want a six speed. and I want the POrsche intake plenum, instead of the ugly stock one, where would I find one? I can tell this car is gonna get outta hand really fast.... the girlfriends gonna be pissed.

Heh, greedy one . Adding AAN you need to connect AAN engine wiring loom and your coupe wiring loom. If you know what you're doing (seems not your case), it's job max for a weekend. If not - you can burn ECU, your car, something else .

Regarding power output - to get 100 more ponies you need RS2 turbo, RS2 ex. manifold, 7A engine exaust cam (from 20v coupe), possible RS2 or similar ijectors, big FMIC and ... REMAP of ECU, because it controls the boost. This can get you to 300hp and counting ...

There's cheaper way - just do REMAP on stock setup. With all air leaks found and fixed you can get reliable 260-280hp (depending on the car, IC and stuff) and "some" additional torque.

P.S. On 20v turbo audi cars, boost is limited by ecu. You CANNOT override or fool it. It's not a nissan or lancia. Trying to do so in silly way - will destroy the engine.
