    Ess-Carr-Go (like a snail)

    Hi Guys

My RS2 was going beautifully then all of a sudden well not so suddenly boost drop the one day to 1.2, the next to 1bar and now 0.8.
If i disconnect the WGF valve I get 0.5 bar.
I can hear air escaping or being dumped but I have checked my new Samcos and clamps and all looks well. Maybe its the intercooler O-ring but would it do this. no MarkH mod done yet

Is there a way I can pressurise the system to check for leaks?

Or could it be something else. I also found a tiny crack in the small hoses behind the engine and tried to change it but broke the yellow and black cone shaped thinga-magigi( pic attached )what does it do?

That's a check valve to provide vacuum to the rear diff controller and aircon. If you temporarily bung the hose between the valve and the inlet manifold you will stop that leak.

As for the original leak - If you can hear air escaping then it must be pretty major. Suggest the bypass valve gets checked along with your O-ring (do the 60/70 mod).

Do a search here for leak test - its easy enough to do if you have the right bungs and a good compressor.

I did exactly the same thing when changing the vacum lines.

When i asked on the forum what part number it was i was told 8A0820675 non-return valve, but check. I cant find the reciept to confirm this but VAGparts identified the part on their own and supplied it.

I drove around for a week or so with the open vacum line blanked off and all was fine.

I found getting the old valve off impossible and had to cut the hard plastic line and to make a sleeve from a bit of rubber/silicone hose with 2 clips to join the valve back to the hard plastic line. It seemed to work.
