    Hi Tina,

I feed 5w-40 to mine but I do small highway commuting so my engine hardly ever heats up fully.

    Most S2 drivers use 10w-40.

High power tuned S2's run on 10w-60.

    HTH,

Yeah, use a quality fully synthetic oil of at least 10W-40 grade, or if you have over 140K odd miles, maybe a 10W-60.
I use Silkolene 10W-50. And always a genuine Audi oil filter.

I run mine on the Quantam Semi Synthetic 10-40 from Main Dealer, but you can get it cheaper at GSF, ECP etc. My mate gets my stuff for me so i pay peanuts from the stealer anyway

10W60 Castrol RS. (Fully Synthetic) That is the one generally recommend to keep the Turbo in tip top condition.

5W30 for me. Gives more power to the wheels because of the lower viscosity, especially when hot.

The new Castrol TWS 10/60! It is approved for street use (not like the plain RS 10/60) and is used from Porsche and from BMW for the new M3 and M5 cars!

I think its better than the old RS 10/60 in the area of cold engine starts etc.

Many mechanics and people knowing about engines say that! Other say that it is the same only the name has changed!

Thing is the TWS Motorsport 10-60 has ACEA A3/B3 and API SJ/CF approvals and the RS 10 - 60 has not! Some say they simply buy these approvals! IT UP TO YOU TO JUDGE IT!

                        Here is the site

                        TWS Motorsport 10-60

                        and RS Formula 10-60

Till now the RS Formula 10-60 was the most recommended oil from other owners for the audi I5 engines!

I use RS 10-60 and in the next change i think i am going to try the TWS 10-60

                          Description
                          • Competition Full Synthetic Engine Oil
                          • Formulated with 100% synthetic base fluids, including a synergistic blend of three esters, combined with latest additive technology for maximum performance.
                          Application
Use as received for competition engines used in highly stressed conditions.
                          User Benefits
Fully synthetic oils provide many outstanding performance benefits over conventional mineral oil. By utilising both polyalphaolefins (PAO) and ester synthetics specially selected to minimise the amount of polymer used, the lubricant film provided is more resistant to ‘shear’ and viscosity loss in highly stress areas.
                          • Full synthetic oil provides:
                          - load carrying capacity up to six times that of mineral oil
                          - high film strength for ultimate protection
                          - outstanding cold flow properties for reduced wear at start up
excellent thermal stability and oxidation resistance
                          • The synergistic blend of three esters gives improved lubricity, reducing friction and enhancing the oils performance
                          • CFS 10W-60 formulated to protect larger competition engines operating under extreme conditions e.g. long distance racing, rallying in both normally aspirated and turbocharged engines
                          Performance Profile
                          • Suitable for all normally aspirated and turbocharged engines from 2 litres upwards.
                          • Ideal for large capacity V8 engines in all forms of motorsport.
                          • Suitable for operating at 125oC with peak temperatures up to 150oC
                          • For fast road use or track days in engines where a 10w/40 is normally specified

According to the Castol websites the 10W60 RS is particularly suitable for Turbocharged cars.

Sounds good to me - I will be sticking with that!
