I had the car chipped just after I got it and I remember the chap saying that he had done something with the control of the wastegate. Not understanding these things I just nodded as my eyes glazed over

Is it safe for me to be running without a WGFV? Can anybody explain, in simple terms, what it does and why the chap who chipped my car has removed it.

In layman terms, the WGFV controls your boost.
I found this pipe hanging off on mine, car didn't run well at all. Mine wasn't bunged up though, it looked as though it'd fallen off the nipple on the coldside of the turbo.

I had it done by Automark in Stokesley, North Yorkshire. I don't know whether he fitted a superchip or one of his own but he showed me the map he had programmed in on his laptop. I went to him cos in that months Audi Driver there was an article about an ur quattro that he had worked on. He also used to look after the 600hp hill climb S2 that used to do the rounds.

Mark also managed to diagnose which two of my coils were defective, something that two local VW/Audi specialists hadn't been able to do.
