Time for an early chrimbo pressie

Its time to change turbos on mine now, im bored with my current setup. Plus the fact Doug is changing his and i cant have him beating me! I have decided to try one of these new fangled garrett turbos. Looking at either GT3040R or GT35/40R. I have no idea what the different trim specs mean. So who knows. I dont mind if it is as laggy as the current one, will even not mind too much if it ends up boosting at 4k. As long as it is doing about 550-600bhp

So watch this space for the sale of a KKK26/27 #8 hotside, same as Dougs. It wont be until after christmas, and it will be just the turbo and nothing else.

TOm - you must be mental or something

For 550bhp you'll be looking at nothing smaller that the GT40R - just going on memory here mind - I'd need to look at compressor maps again... and you'll probably want the bigger option for the hotside. Expect some lag I reckon but that thing starts to boost it will make your eyes water.

Yes indeed Mark - the rule of thumb for 60lbs/min is the enabler here - and the GT35R compressor will stretch to that.

What A/R would you recommend on the turbine - 1.06 or higher ?

The 35/40 is being used by Sal and Cees who are both running the cars in as we speak - so we should know how fast they are in the next 2 weeks.

                        Paul

AFAIK it comes with 0.63, 0.82 and 1.06 from what I have been told 0.82 will get 600, only one way to find out I suppose. The hot sides are quite cheap from ATP anyway and easy to change so its not too hard to experiment.

Is the 35/40R a garrett notation for a specific hybrid combination - I don't see it in the catalog. Assume its a GT35R compressor coupled with a GT40R hotside - what A/R though ????

I haven't spent much time looking at mad turbos lately...

I blame Jeffer - if he didn't keep on flying past me I would have been happy. 500+ is when the S2 is a handful - and that is what I want! Go out in his car and you will want that sort of power (until you do 10 1/4miles starts in the back seat and you even get used to that!!!)
