    Compression Drop Puzzle

    Hi Guys,

A little help needed if anyone can figure it out.

To do the sums for the pulley wheels on my supercharger I need to figure the BHP of my engine with the compression ratio dropped.

    I have a 7a BHP before drop 170 at 10:1

The compression will be dropped to 9.3:1

Anyone got any ideas what the BHP will be?

    Cheers Guys

Tis what I have been told the gasket will drop it too.

Only going off info that i have been given. I hope it is correct as calculations depend on it.

Just a couple of HP's. You wont feel any difference if everything else is the same. Thicker gasket gives a bit less squish(longer distance from piston to head), but shouldn't be a problem.

          Cheers,
          Roger

I would not recommend to use any other head gasget as orginal.

Just been chatting to a mate of mine and he has said I need to get down to approx 9.0:1 to be able to pump in the pressure and get good power. Anyone got any idea how to get down to this guys?

              Cheers

By the way the reason for this is a supercharger is going to be fitted so I need to drop the compression so I can ramp up the bar.

one way is buy two org gasgets and drill the holders open and build your self correct height of gasget, BUT the squish area (I have no idea how to tell it in english) area where piston is closest to head, the gap should not be large, this comes a problem when thicknes of gasget is increased.
