Hi i am going to do boost leak test on my s2. I have a set of bungs that i got from blu_s2 who did explain how to do the test but i have forgotten where i have to put the bungs and how the test works. Can someone post a guide of how i go about testing? Im a bit of an amateur so pics would be good to . Cheers Guys

Cheers for the link. I have read through and being the idiot that i am i still cant make out what i need to bung. I no u have to plug the hose going into the MAF thats where i will put the pressure in. What pressure shall i put in about 1.5bar? Sorry for questions but thanks for the advice

Have i got this right basically u bung the three hoses put the pressure in about 1.5 bar from a garage air pump and then it should hold that pressure? cheers for the help

Yup. That's it. Listen and feel for hissing leaks.
To test the rest of the intake system including the throttle body hose, leave the MAF pipe bung and breather bung in place, and reconnect the hose shown in the picture.
that breather pipe is hard to get to. I got a little hose with clips either side on the breather pipe is that correct? i will do the test tomorrow thanks for the help

Right I just tried to do a boost leak test using the three bungs. I put them in there relevant places as in the pic, tightened up the jubilee clips air tight. The only thing i could use to apply the pressure was my dads emergency halfords tyre inflator (the one u plug into your lighter) and although this is not the most powerful of inflators we left it on for five mins and still i got no reading on the gauge. I also tried another gauge which showed no pressure and also we even tried the gauges on a tyre which showed the right pressure. When i turned the inflator off u could hear air escaping very fast. It seemed as though it was coming from just behind the front bumper or something in that area. First question should have bunged something else? is there any suggestions as to what is happening? Thanks for your help.

You need to use a better compressor, one that can flow more air. Most garages have one that's up to the task. Have you got the Mark H IC mod? It's common for boost to leak from the intercooler o-ring, and you'll hear air escaping from behind the bumper if it is.
no i dont i have heard about this and sounds like a worth while mod. I did leave the compressor for a long while and it has been used on tyres and pumped them up fine. The gauge did not move at all really and as soon as u stopped it u could hear air just rushing out. It seemed to be coming from the other end of the intake hose (or what i think is the intake hose) just to the side of the front rad. I got to learn all the terms im not making myself look the most intelligent

Those type of 'compressors' are not going to do the job. You need a proper compressor capable of flowing lots of air. A garage forecourt tyre inflator is perfect. Expect some strange leaks, sorry I meant 'looks'
Don't go past 1.5bar... if a bung works loose it'll have your eye out - en route to a geostationary orbit of the moon !!!!
Rigfht i finally got myself down to my garage to do a boost leak test. First try and i nearly took my head off as the bung plugged into the maf hose shot off and just missed me. . So i tightened the clips and had another go. I went to about 20psi (the compressor only gave psi) and listened for leaks. I could hear quite loudly a hissing noise. It seemed to come from around the breather pipe area but it was hard to locate 100%. Can i just check i have plugged the breather hose correctly? what side do i plug it from? Also i fitted my boost gauge a little while ago. On full boost the gauge would shoot round and straight pass 20 psi. Now in first gear and second gear especially it only gets to about 17, 18 psi. Do u think this is a leak?
