    Boost values? checking? and leakcheck?

    Hello again

Following on from a previous thread my friends 94' S2 is still messing around a bit, one boost hose has been found split and reparied and its "almost" better, but its not.

I have now got a cheap analogue boost gauge from another car i've just bought, So can someone tell me the easiest non-permanant way to install this in the S2? and also what figures to expect from a std car?

Also I see some posts about boost leak checking with some ally blocks etc.. It appears you block the intercooler outlet by the throttle body, and the idle control valve outlet by the throttle body and pressurise up to 1.5bar just after the AFM and listen for the leaks? I don't have these spacers, but I'm sure i'll work something out

Well today we found the AFM>turbo pipe slightly leaky around the turbo,
The recirculation/dumpvalve thingymabob was loose(no usefull jubilee clip), it had also worn against something and put a hole in it nearly, but it was leaking around its full outer edge, so new one of them on way. there was another small possible leak somehwere else i forget where..

Will put all that back together and go for a spin..

Didn't really find much of a confident thing to put the boost gauge on, ok i could cut into one of the pipes on the throttle body etc.. but then i'd have to get it in the car, i thought the ECU was under the seats, but they run motronic dont they?? found a bosh thingy there, and also a small box with vacuum hoses etc.. I put a T piece on a pink one that seems to come from the throttle body, before this one way valve where it goes off to this box.. I think it will work there, but its not what i wanted to do, ideally i'd like to T into the ECU feed.. where/what is the ecu on this?

Thanks!!! I checked the drivers side being a vaux guy
Will get that sorted wednesday when the new recirc valve etc turn up, then take it for a bit of a spin and see whats what hopefully it will fix the problem, but if not then at least i'll be able to see what the boost is doing now.

For a stock AAN engine with factory ECU programming expect 1.1-1.2bar maximum overboost... dropping off as you near the redline on full throttle.
