Whilst driving around town today my low oil pressure warning light was intermittently flashing and beeping. It wasn't staying on for long maybe 30 secs or so then would stay off for anywhere between 5 and 20 minutes. This was just driving normally and there wasn't any particular thing that I could do to make it happen. The warning light didn't come on whilst on the motorway.
I'm using millers 10W60 (changed 2 1/2 months ago), oil pressure sits just under 2 bar when up to full temp (IIRC used to be over 2 bar) and at 4.5bar at 3000rpm plus. At 5000rpm seems to be just under 5 bar. When light comes on pressure is as above.
When checking the oil level I did notice that it was above the full mark. I must have slightly overfilled it last time i topped up a week or so ago. Is this a problem or could it be causing the warning light to come on?
Or perhaps the start of a dodgy oil pressure sensor?
Any ideas ... Angus
