    full boost at last !!

just a quick note to you guys....

    YEE-HAH !!!!

I've had my S2 for over a year now, and have slowly been reducing the number of niggling faults. A while ago I fitted homefries and although the performance was at times startling, it was also a little erratic. After reading several previous posts on the forum, I fitted a new WGFV and DV (from S3).

The result is astounding - more power than I thought possible, in a constant and usable form. It seems like the motor has always been suffering from poor boost control. I've got to say, there's nothing like a turbo motor in fine health !!

Also, I think the poor idle problems are solved, although I have a new ISV in reserve just in case.

Thanks for all the shared advice.

      WGFV - Wastegate Frequency valve
      DV - Dumpvalve
      ISV - Idle Stabilisation valve

If the WGFV or DV are knackered these can cause boost issues. Both cheap parts and not too difficult to change.

Have yo had your car pressure tested for leaks and have you done the 'Mark H' intercooler mod?

        hi jon

yep - did a pressure test & not surprisingly, the intercooler was leaking excessively. The O-ring was destroyed (looked like it had been mis-assembled from new !!). Did the MarkH mod & all sorted.

having fun at the minute setting off from traffic lights in the wet. It feels like boost is being produced earlier in the rev range as well as a lot more and smoother higher up.

It seemed like the boost never really had time to develope fully in first gear. Very crisp now though - lots of first gear action !!

Well I managed it and I am useless. Need to take the bumper off. There are full instructions on here somewhere.
