I have read a very nice Thread in a German Forum and there was a man Specialized on motor Oils saying that the Mobil1 5-50 will be far better than the Castrol 10-60 in terms of anti friction, Cold engine start up, ect ect since it has a very modern additive formula!! He said the only benefit with the 10-60 (the 10-60 only slightly better than the 5-50)will be in a very high revving with high piston speed engine with very high temperatures!

What are you saying about this?

What about turbo engine ? Oil is used for cooling and IMHO has bigger thermal stress.

Mihnea recommends it and that's good enough for me.

And yes, the advantages of the 10/60 is potentially reduced Turbo wear.....

        Cheers,

I recall that there were discussions about concerns that 5 grade oils might be too "thin" to provide enough protection for the turbo at higher temperatures?

Glad to see the Castrol in 5litre cans now though, that's good. Does it work out any cheaper than the equivalent Millers?

Actually the water is there to cool the turbo! The oil is there for antifriction!

I have also read that Lehmann recomends this Mobil1 5w50 but i dont know if its true!

                    Hi there,

I'll order from them next time then. Found a dutch auto parts shop just next to work that had a 4 liter and a 1 liter can for 54 Euros. My S2 is due in for it's 110.000km service in a few days so I just bought the stuff so I was sure to get it to the garage at the same time as the car

                    Thanx for the link !

                    Take care and ,

                    David

Of course the Pistons are Cooled from Oil and From the Fuel!

They claimed that the High Temperature Stability between the M1 5-50 and the Castrol 10-60 are very close, but the Antifriction spec from the First are far better than the second!

Does anyboby else have experience with this oil?
