    should this worry me??

when i first placed my boost gauge on the car i was noticing that i had 22psi as highest boost level in most gears.
now that i payed some attention again i was noticing that it would only brake the 20psi limit on 4th gear, while on 2nd and 3d would reach or barely reach 20psi.

should this worry me?Im still getting my nice kick in tha butt/back but i thought...thats why i put the damn thing there in the first place!!At lease let it do its job!

I took the car for a spin, had little fuel in(around 10l) and it would never reach 20psi(only 18) and also it wouldnt kick,it would only accelerate fast.I thought...ok the fuel pump is getting strained..I fueled up with BP ultimate 100octane,....and i got my kick and my happy face back again!!However,it would still not push pass the 20psi limit as i described...

Not hearing any hissing sounds(but then again it is not always easy),but what else could it be besides turbo leak?

and while we are at the subject....what happened to that group Buy of boost leak pressure kits???Anyone got a spare to sell??
    thanks
    cheers

I have a BAR gauge, but I understand from the guru's on here that the normal boost is around 1 BAR which is a tad under 15PSI. You get normal boost in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gears, but in 4th, 5th and 6th you get 'overboost' for a short time, dropping back after 15 seconds according to Audi, although never lasts for even half that in mine

Over boost should be to around 1.15 BAR (just under 17PSI) as it is supposed to be around 15% extra boost.

I cannot comment on the rest, only that it sounds like you have normal behaviour, just at higher (homefry?) pressures.

A guru will now come on and correct me and answer your menaing questions........

    Cheers n

      hi thanks.

seeing the equivalents on a web page:1psi 0.069bar
      10psi 0.690bar
      20psi 1.379bar
      1bar 15psi
      2bar 29psi

also that on untuned cars the max boost was 1.4bar would then be around 22psi!!!
My car has an MTM chip which is why i thought i was getting the above the 20psi overboost, but i guess im not getting that either!!!unless accurasy is the thing here...
but now it seems to be kind of reluctant to reach again that limit...
also from the time i got the car,im getting full boost at 4000rpm(meaning the kick)...if that info tells you anything...

      cheers

Hi mate that is what happened to me. My gauge only goes up to 20psi and it used to shoot passed that. Now it only gets to 19psi. 1,2,3 it only gets to about 15psi when flooring it. I posted this a while ago and mihnea said all was normal.

hmmm...anyway,it is too early for me to start searching for trouble...besides im only flooring it when i want o overpass someone so it is good for now.Whenever i decide i have the time and money to make some serious changes,i will look everything up!
            thanks

@Billman, mihnea said it was normal cos my remapp was set up to boost around 19psi. The reason my s2 only reaches 15psi in 1,2,3 is cos the turbo does not have enough time to spool up when u floor it through the gears. This is the thread which will explain it better http://www.s2forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=12256
