  • 7a ex cam, downside?

what is the negative effekts of fitting a 7a exhaust cam (and exhaust only) on at stock 3b engine, and on a "rs2 modified" 3b engine?

    positive effekts reply, no thanx

Since audi designed new cams for the 20vt, i recon it was done by a reason, instead of just using one allready made.. (cu's audi sure know how to re-use )
So what's the downside? (exept the remap issue, because that was no issue for audi.. )

i found a loss in bottom end torque - not had a remap either tho

That's fair comment as this cam brings its benefits at the top end of the rev range. I expect you'll get most of that low-end torque back with a remap... Never forget how conservative Audi were with the boost profile on the S2.

Yes, loss of low end torque and 3-4mpg less.

i did not notise any loss in lower rpm,i have full boost at the same rpm , but a huge gain in the top end, and i`m using both exhaust and inlet, but i think it depends on on manifolds, injectors, turbocharger, boostlevel (2,2 bar ) portet head etc etc,
