One of my mates who may not be a mate very long has suggested that when I do an engine rebvuild to get it bored out to a 2.5L

the pistons would touch eachother if you bore that much, cause the walls are so thin.
you might bore 1mm or so, go for stroke if you want a bigger engine.

it is, but the engines seems to like it also

you dont need the diesel engine block though, use standard length rods and new pistons with the x-bolt moved aprox 4.5mm.

Personally I think the 2.5l diesel block is a better path to follow... despite funky camshaft timing but Pisobiker worked all this out for us !!!!

yes he did, and with pistons with moved x-pin you could use even longer rods, but the 2.5 tdi block is heavy isnt it ? and my innlet manifold would tuch the hood with the extra height. i will go for the 2.2t block

Is your hood lower than everyone elses ?

              Are longer rods better ?

Suspect the diesel block is indeed a bit heavier than ABY - dunno how much though.

Let us know how your path works out !

                - no, my innlet manifold is taller..

-yes, longer rods are better! you are redusing the sideway force on the piston with longer rods, because you reduce the angle on the rod when the piston is halfway up/down.

-if you allready have modified your engine with exmanifold,dp,ic etc you will probably have to do much of this over again with a 2 cm taller block as the dp will hit the axle, the tubing from turbo to ic will be to short etc.

-now you can tell me why 2.5 tdi block is better Paul ?

and if you bore them to get 2.5 litres as Azman wanted, how much will you have left ?
4mm walls would be thin enough for me (1-2mm overbore)

is it over 6mm thick between all sylinders Caterpillar ?

Why is the camshaft timing on pisobikers funky? I think with the stock cam pulley and the RS2 cams he used, he just had to place the Pulley like on every RS2 (A half teeth left)!

                      I am right or not??
