    MPG problem

    Guys,

Having recently changed my fuel pump, the car seems to be having some major thirst problem. It seems to be drinking more than a depressed George Best, who has been told that his wife has left him, and that his local drinking den is about to be shut!

It is currently giving me approx 13 mpg. Surely this cant be right? I was previously getting approx 17/18 mpg.

Forgive my lack of tech knowledge and stupidity re. what I am about to say next... but, is there some kind of "thingy" that you turn to limit the amount of fuel being used

I shall bow out now in embarassment before I ask anything else silly......

    Check for Lambda sensor failure.
    Take a look here:

      Just thought about it:

could also be the Temp. sender on the back of cylinder head (exhaust side).
To check it's functioning take a look here:

        Thanks Marco.

I'm actually going to try and do this thing myself. I've been meaning to begin learning and attempting to carry out work on the car myself. So all, please keep fingers crossed for me.

Oh, and after the weekend, guys, expect a posting from me saying "IVE SCREWED UP THE CAR!"
